Background Information: El Paso County is a jewel in the desert.  Nestled between the rugged Franklin Mountains and the historic Rio Grande, this dynamic border community combines the advantages of a metropolitan center with the ambience and neighborly charm of a picturesque western town.  El Paso is a major transportation hub, providing state-of-the-art educational and medical facilities, abundant cultural and entertainment opportunities, year-round sports and outdoor recreation, a low crime rate, some of the best weather conditions on the planet, and an extremely favorable cost-of-living index.  We are a cosmopolitan community; seven in ten El Pasoans are bilingual in English and Spanish, and people from all over the world come here to live, work, do business, get an education, or retire.  El Paso abounds with places to go, things to see. El Paso and New Mexico offer many fishing opportunities from trout to catfish, stocked lakes to streams.  Hunting opportunities are endless in nearby West Texas or only 90 minutes north in the Lincoln National Forest and Sacramento Mountains of New Mexico.   One of the United State’s largest bases and home to the annual Amigo Air Show, Fort Bliss has museums, fairs, and one of the biggest PX's in the Southwest.  Ft. Bliss, located in El Paso County has some of the oldest architecture in El Paso, so history and military buffs alike will find plenty to do. As of December 3, 2007, El Paso is ranked the second safest city in the US with a population greater than 500,000. El Paso Outdoors: The comfortably dry heat of the El Paso sun (temperatures averaging in the low 80s during the summer and above 40 in the winter) allows outdoor recreation throughout the year. El Paso has 7 public golf courses, including highly-acclaimed Painted Dunes. Across the New Mexico state border are several getaway spots allowing hiking, hunting and fishing. A 2-hour drive to Ruidoso will access horse racing, hunting and fishing, and mountains offering great skiing in the winter months.   El Paso is the seat of El Paso County in the U.S. state of Texas and part of the American Southwest. According to the 2006 U.S. Census population estimates, the city had a population of 609,415[1]. It is the sixth-largest city in Texas and the 21st-largest city in the United States, as well as the 7th fastest growing large city in the nation from 2000-2006 [2]. Its metropolitan area covers all of El Paso County, a porton of Hudspeth County and part of southern Dona Ana County, New Mexico. The metropolitan area has a population of 736,310.[3] The city's elevation is 3,800 feet (1140 m) above sea level. The rustic North Franklin Peak towers at 7,192 feet above sea level and is the highest peak in the city. The peak can be seen from 60 miles in all directions.   Horizon City, El Paso County, Texas: Back in the 1960's developers of Horizon City, sent out beautiful futuristic brochures on the new development, showing super highways and a beautiful lake & golf course.  Well, back then Horizon City never took off, but now that El Paso is booming therefore land in Horizon is increasing in value as well.  Over the past few years Horizon subdivisons, roads & shopping centers are popping up all over the place.  New schools have been built in Horizon City and the town is growing.  Electrical and sewer lines are being laid on properties that never had them.  El Paso cannot grow south because of Old Mexico or north and west where El Paso is bordered by New Mexico. El Paso has no choice but to grow east.  El Paso (City) has connected to Horizon with roads & subdivisions and continues growing eastward. Nov. 2007: The El Paso Times newspaper is reporting that the Army wants to send 11,000 more troops to Ft. Bliss on top of the 20,000 new troops that are already coming for sure. The Army is now thinking of bringing in an additional three brigade combat teams to the area, two would go to Ft. Bliss and one would go to White Sands, New Mexico. Ft. Bliss is currently going through a $3.1 billion expansion. According to a research study done by UTEP, our hometown university, the total economic impact of the Fort Bliss expansion will be an estimated $21.7 billion over the next seven years, and then an additional $3.7 billion annually for many years after that. When El Paso grows so goes Horizon City. __________________________________________________________________________________ Huniting: This land is 90 min south from some of the best Mule Deer Elk & Turkey hunting nearby in Timberon or Ruidoso New Mexico.  Also excellent Mule deer & bird hunting just 70 mi east in Hudspeth county Texas.  _________________________________________________________________________________________ Legal / Lot Information: 345 HORIZON CITY #42 Lot 5   HORIZON CITY, COUNTY OF EL PASO, TEXAS  This is a Platted subdivision with Lot 5 just under 1 acre (.910 acre) located on a paved road ( Shadow Mountain Lake Rd) with Electricity at the lot.  Take Horizon Blvd east to Shadow Mtn Lake Rd, make a left & lot is just 1230' up the road on the left hand side.  Other side of this lot also has good access road.  This road is East Point Road.  Land is flat with quite a bit of vegetation & offers very nice mountain views all around.  Lake El Paso is just up the road only a few hundred yards.  A gentleman at the Lake told my wife & myself that the Lake is gated & a California company has some plans to build nice homes around and near the Lake w Palm Trees & so on.  This is 2nd hand information however it is easy to see how this could turn into a magnificent development at any time.  We own the adjoining lot(s) along the paved road as well & would consider selling only one of the adjoining lots to the highest bidder.   Below pictures are of Horizon Blvd, misc pics of lot(s), Elementary & High Schools in Horizon, Map of lot,  and downtown El Paso (about 35 min).   Note: This lot has availability or feasibility of water service as there is a County Water Tank less than 1 mile (NW) that services the "caretakers building" for the Lake (Lake El Paso) only a few hundred yards away.   The hook-up from where the line turns towards the building to this lot would be a straight run along the paved road.  Sewer would be by septic.  Electric is at the lot.
